Piledrivers work with power and hand tools. They drive all types of piling, including wood, steel, and concrete pilings. They work on docks, bridges, oil platforms and ferry landings. They run chain saws, burning torches, and use many types of hydraulic and air tools. They also build and install the form work on piling, bridges and docks. They install piling in pre-drilled holes in the ground. They do new construction and rebuild old. Piledrivers also do foundation work for buildings, weld, and do many other related work processes.
Classes that may be offered are as follows:
• Blueprint reading • Builder’s level and transit • Certified rigging • Concrete Forms • Confined space • Fall Protection • First aid/CPR • Flame cutting with hand and machine torches • Forklift • Hazardous Materials 40 hour • Hazardous Materials 8 hour • Hyperbaric/EMT-1 (Qualified Diver/Tenders Only) • North Slope Training Co-operative (NSTC), • OSHA 10 • Piledriving and types of hammers • Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges (Qualified Divers Only) • Welding procedures • Welding – SMAW and FCAW (Other classes may be added at any time)
