The ARCC is involved in politics for one reason—to defend and promote the rights of working people!

As a labor union representing over 2,000 carpenters, millwrights, piledrivers, and their families, the Alaska Regional Council of Carpenters must serve as the united voice that protects our members and the workplace issues that affect their lives. We work in coordination with the UBC nationwide to protect you and your family. One of the most current examples is the political issue of 1099 Misclassified Workers and Employer Fraud that impacts all of us-Union and Non-Union, Democrat and Republican. Being active in politics and staying in close contact with members of Local and State Government, the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives; we maintain a direct line with legislators who can help us promote and defend the rights of workers. We also work to elect local, state, and national leaders who will take positions that we support.

We work with all political parties in Alaska to weigh in on issues that affect your paycheck, upcoming construction projects, workforce development, Alaska Hire, and other workplace issues. We stay away from national platform politics that have nothing to do with today’s work environment and stick to issues that impact our members.

We urge our union members, their families, and all working people to know their elected officials and make them accountable for the votes they cast. You can start here and now!
