Applications for Apprenticeship Program

Applications for the apprenticeship program are accepted January 2 through December 20th for the following year’s Carpenter Training program. Everyone that turns in a completed application is invited to attend orientation, where a math evaluation assessment will be taken and attend an interview for acceptance. The orientation, math evaluation assessment, and interview take place at the end of February. If accepted, you will start classes in the summer.

Journeymen Enhancement Training

Classes are offered for Journeymen and Apprentices to improve and learn new skills. Classes are available to all UBC Union members in good standing. Members may view the training schedule at either their local union or at the training centers office.

There's a $20 (cash only) signup fee per class, to be reimbursed upon completion of each class. Signup for classes is at Carpenters Local 1281's office. 407 Denali Street, Anchorage Alaska 99501

Training

Our Mission
It is our goal to provide training that will keep our UBC members at the top of their craft. Our apprentices are trained to meet the needs of our Union Contractors and to be the future leaders in our craft.

Training Centers Profile
The Southern Alaska Carpenters Training Center has provided training for UBC apprentices and journeymen members since 1936. SACTC has been registered with the Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training since 1955. The training that is provided enhances our members' ability to be safe, productive craftsmen.

SACTC is the training center for Carpenters Locals 1281 in Anchorage and 2247 in Juneau. At the Southern Alaska Carpenters Training Center we like to say, "Through Our Doors Pass the Best Trained Builders in the Nation". The Southern Alaska Carpenters Training Center (SACTC) provides quality training for carpenter apprentices and journeymen south of the 63rd parallel.
